FOURTH AND SEVENTH ROW FOR THE LIGHTECH SPEEDUP IN THE CATALAN GP QUALIFYING

The LighTech SpeedUp team has just completed the Gran Premi de Catalunya qualifying held today at the circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona to determine their position on tomorrow’s starting grid.

In the third free practice session in the morning, Lopez and his team were unable to lower the Friday’s time, thus ending the free practices outside the qualifying zone in p20 with a time of 1’44.862. A small change to the setting before Q1 and it was immediately P1 with a time of 1’44.446. In the final quali, Alonso got off to a very strong start with an excellent 1’44.579. Halfway through the session he stopped at the box for a tire change which, however, did not help to lower the time also due to too much wind on track, closing qualifying with the eleventh time and fourth row of the starting grid.

More complicated day for Fermin, but still positive for the progress achieved with his Boscoscuro bike. In FP3, the best time of the three free practices arrived in 1’45.032, which, however, was not enough to directly get access to the final qualifying. He proved to have a better pace and to be faster during Q1 but by a few tenths he did not pass the round, finishing in p20 and therefore seventh row in the Catalan qualifying.

ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 11th in 1’44.579

“Today went very well even if in this morning’s practice we didn’t find the fastest lap even though we had all the skills. I made a mistake that prevented us from going directly into Q2, but I’m still happy to have faced Q1 and to have passed them in the first time, feeling really good with the bike. In Q2 I could have done more but with someone in front of me because the strong wind was disturbing the driving. I’m happy with my team’s work and with the pace we have shown, mañana a tope!”.

FERMÍN ALDEGUER #54: 20th in 1’44.947

“It was a complicated day but I am still happy with our Q1 because we finally got down to 44 with a good pace. It is a pity not to have been able to take advantage of the new tire because it would have certainly given us more margin and a better time. Our goal remains very clear and as always, we will give our best tomorrow in the race!”.
