QUALIFYING: SECOND AND EIGHT ROW FOR THE +EGO SPEEDUP TEAM AT THE SAN MARINO GP

The + EGO SpeedUp team closed the qualifying session of the San Marino Grand Prix with sixth and twenty-fourth place, taking the second and eighth row of the starting grid of the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Jorge Navarro and his staff worked on the Boscoscuro bike setting during free practice this morning, testing the dry setting for the first time this weekend. P11 in 1’37.626 is the time with which Jorge obtained direct access to Q2. In the fifteen minutes available, the number nine further improved his time and with a time of 1’36.928 he earned the second row of the grid.

Yari Montella closed the three free practice sessions in p28 with a time of 1’38.370 to +1.358 from the first, thus having to face Q1. Shortly after the start of qualifying, the unexpected and light rain arrived complicating the fight for the top four positions of the riders on track. The good feeling on the bike is not enough and in the few minutes on track Yari stopped the time at 1’39.017, obtaining the eighth row in p24.

JORGE NAVARRO #9: 6th in 1’36.928

“We finally ran dry today. In FP3 we gathered information, see the points to improve and prepare for the QP. The weather was uncertain until a few seconds before the start of the qualifying, when we found that the track was drying well. It was a good workout; we were fast but above all with a strong pace. There are still some details that we have to study for tomorrow, but we know we are competitive”.

YARI MONTELLA # 5: 24th in 1’39.017

“Beyond the result, I don’t consider the day a negative one. We worked a lot in FP3 this morning to understand the dry setup that I liked the most. Half dry and half wet qualifying, really difficult conditions but the sensations were still positive. Maybe with one more lap we would have had the chance to do better but that’s okay and now let’s think about tomorrow. We will try to give our best, also because the feeling with the bike seems to have improved in both conditions, so I think I can do a good race”.
