BETA TOOLS SPEEDUP

A TURBULENT BUT POSITIVE RACE FOR BETA TOOLS SPEEDUP. LÓPEZ 8TH, ALDEGUER 13TH AFTER TWO LONG LAPS

The Catalan Grand Prix, the eleventh round of the Moto2 World Championship, has just come to an end. The Beta Tools SpeedUp closed the Catalan Sunday crossing the finish line in eighth (Lopez) and thirteenth (Aldeguer) position.

When the traffic lights went out, the number 21 immediately leapt from P7 to P5 fighting for a long time with Ogura to keep the fifth place. A few laps from the end of the race, Lopez reached a higher race pace than the other nearby riders, which allows him to advance up to the leading group. However, once he arrived, Alonso was unable to continue his race for the podium due to contact with Acosta which made him losing a few positions. In any case, Alonso’s result was positive as he tenaciously finished the race inside the points zone in eighth position.

However, for Aldeguer the race turned out to be more complicated than expected because of the double penalty. Halfway through the race, the race direction imposed the Beta Tools SpeedUp rider to take a long lap that he mistakenly failed to finish correctly. The young guy from Murcia was then forced to suffer a second penalty, due to which he would not get close to the top10 by crossing the finish line in 13th position.

ALONSO LOPEZ #21: 8°

“I’m satisfied with today’s race as I had my doubts after last week’s forearm operation. After getting the better of the bagarre with another rider, I was able to move up to the leading group. However, once I arrived, I had a slight contact with Acosta which cost me time and positions. Overall, I’m very happy because I brought home points. We know that the races are unpredictable and for this reason we will continue to work for the next Grand Prix”.

FERMÍN ALDEGUER #54: 13°

“I’m not very happy with how it went today because I expected much more than thirteenth position. I certainly made some mistakes but my team and I will continue to improve in view of Misano.”
