THE WEATHER AFFECTS THE FIRST DAY OF THE GP OF THE AMERICAS: P13 AND P14 FOR THE BETA TOOLS SPEEDUP TEAM

The Beta Tools SpeedUp was back in action today on the Circuit Of The Americas to face the third round of the Moto2™ World Championship.

The team’s standard-bearers both showed good pace on the track during the first session, while in the afternoon with a wet track they encountered a few more difficulties, thus concluding the first day of free practices for the Americas GP in thirteenth and fourteenth position.

Lopez put the turbo into the American FP1 by finishing fifth with a time of 2’10.678, just +0.162 from the leader, managing to maintain a constant pace throughout the first session. The uncertain weather conditions in the afternoon conditioned the second session of the number 21 although he proved to have a good feeling with his Boscoscuro bike. The morning chrono remained the best of the day for Alonso who is currently in thirteenth position in the provisional combined standings.

For the young Aldeguer the first practice session ended with many laps on the track and an excellent P8 in 2’10.767 just +0.258 from the lead. In the afternoon Fermin and his technicians decided to stay in the garage for the first ten minutes of FP2 due to unfavorable weather conditions. Back on the track, number 54 worked on the bike setting and finished in fourteenth position in the combined standings with a time of 2’10.686.

LOPEZ #21: 13th 1’42.920

“I’m happy with today because my sensations were good on the bike. I don’t think the position we ended up with matches us since we could certainly have given more. Tomorrow we will take advantage of the pace we have to do much better and improve the time.”

ALDEGUER #54: 14th in 1’43.039

“I have to say that it was a particular day due to the weather conditions. The track was initially wet and then luckily it gradually improved, allowing us to finish FP2 quite well. For tomorrow the goal is to qualify and therefore for the moment we continue to work”
